A greater Philadelphia area native, Maureen McFadden grew up an avid and competitive horseback rider. After sustaining a knee injury which prevented her from returning to the sport indefinitely, she began to explore other areas of interest to fill the void. She started to attend a number of local shows and, after some growing interest and curiosity, eventually began booking them. She pursued this interest and went on to study her craft, receiving degrees in both Recording Arts and Music Business. Upon graduation, Maureen worked at Ropeadope, focusing on marketing, promotion and product management. She joined DL Media in 2010, spearheading campaigns for artists such as Kamasi Washington, Aaron Diehl, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Theo Croker, Freda Payne, Gretchen Parlato, Jimmy Greene, Kenny Garrett, Stanley Clarke, OutBeat “America’s First Queer Jazz Festival,” and the Detroit Jazz Festival, among others. Her extensive musical tastes range from everything including J Dilla, Slum Village, and Madlib, to White Denim, Bad Brains, and Fugazi. Her tastes, of course, also expand into jazz, including artists such as Bill Frisell, Roy Hargrove, Gary Burton, Jason Moran, Brian Blade, and many more.
