Vocalist James Tormé – Mel Tormé Christmas Singles

Second Generation Vocalist James Tormé,

Son of Legendary Vocalist Mel Tormé, Announces Release

of Christmas Singles from Legendary Tormé Songbook:

“The Christmas Feeling” – Available November 24

“The Christmas Song” – Available December 8

Old school charm meets new age beats – vocalist James Tormé unfurls a virtually unknown song his father wrote 25 years ago — “The Christmas Feeling” — along with the other holiday song Mel famously wrote “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire),” made famous by Nat “King” Cole’s original recording. These much-awaited new versions from the youngest Tormé (arranged by London jazz heavy Brandon Allen) push musical boundaries, combining elements of jazz, pop, and electronica that are rarely found together in order to reach the two’s objective: a sound that is like nothing else.

Penned by legendary vocalist Mel Tormé and his creative collaborator Bob Wells during a blisteringly hot summer, “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)” has been the definitive holiday standard since its release in 1946. On this new single, James Tormé hints at the style of his forthcoming album, Strange Little Planet, with a reinvention of the song, sending the family perennial soaring into the future. Tormé, who demonstrates his own rare levels of control and style on these sophisticated singles, joins a troop of artists like, Pentatonix, Take 6 and Jacob Collier in using next-level vocal harmonies and abilities to celebrate the holidays with a new generation.

About James Tormé:

According to Jazz FM, “If you get a chance to see James Tormé you should beg, borrow, even steal a ticket.” Sony Classics President Chuck Mitchell (the man who originally discovered James), calls him “The greatest male jazz vocalist to come along in 20 years”. With just a single visit to one of Tormé’s shows, it’s easy to see why the multi-award-winning singer is getting this sort of praise.

James Tormé (who is the son of 3-time Grammy® Award-winning jazz legend Mel Tormé) is taking the legacy he was born into a new age. Appearing at some of the worlds most prestigious festivals and venues, backed by outfits like the BBC Concert Orchestra, Ronnie Scott’s Orchestra, and his own band, the charismatic young star’s debut album, Love For Sale, topped both the iTunes and Amazon Jazz Charts.
